Statins are killing him and Physicians need to wake the hell up!. My Dad's parents lived without statins Father 91 and Mother (over weight) 87 with diabetes and both could run circles around my frail Dad. They took a perfectly healthy non-overweight man with just "pharmaceutical company determined" high cholesterol levels, poisoned him, turned him into a frail old man and robbed him of 15 years of his life. Statins are killing him and robbed him of 15 good years. refuses to take him off of atrovastain 20 mg, even after family request. Gastrointestinal bleeding that land him in the hospital 11. My Dad has statin induced permanent/ and or adverse condition could be directly linked (Documented Studies) to statins: 1. Mayo Clinic Doctor refused to take him off.just put him on different statins. My Dad had problems from very start, muscle cramping and weakness. Statins are poison.a stubborn Mayo Doctor put my father on Statins, over 20 some years ago with no history of heart disease or diabetes. Patient Experience is a block to complaints not an assistance to patience. Is there a second level complaint process? Nope, I am just supposed to go away, even though all my labs and procedures and all my fantastic doctors who wanted me to see a neuro are at Mayo. Oh, and whatever they sent to the head of the department they won't share with me because what supposedly came out of my mouth is for internal use only, they will only say that the Department Head concluded that I shouldn't allowed to see a different Neurologist in the future. I made a complaint and amended the doctor's notes but apparently the Patient Experience Office sent "my issues" to the department head without the amendment and don't intend on sending the amendment along. So, they hired a boob, I should be able to make a complaint and get a second opinion but that is where a break down occurs. They have some great physicians except for the ones who aren't. Mayo is mostly among the best of the best. ![]() If I was there just to train Mayo’s residents, they should be paying me. To have me show up in person so a medical student could deliver the news? Not ok. Prior to my appointment, they knew they couldn’t help when they saw my imaging. So if you feel like spending money you don’t have to see a bunch of doctors in training and be told you should just take more mind-numbing drugs to reduce the pain caused by lesions in your head, go here. I’m disappointed they gave me hope when it didn’t exist. I’m not angry at them because I have a rare disease. ![]() When I finally saw the specialists, I was told there was nothing they could do for me. I traveled halfway across the country to be seen, mostly, by inexperienced medical students who stared at me like a hamster in a cage. I was told they could advance my treatment for a rare condition that’s left me in debilitating, chronic pain. They are profiteers who appear to be more interested in marketing how awesome they are and running a medical school than treating patients and improving care. After my experience at Mayo, I wouldn’t recommend them to a loved one.
